Bazil A. Wenzel

Bazil Wenzel passed away on June 29, 2023, at his daughter’s home in Stockton, MO. He was born on April 26, 1922, to Hazel (McAllister) and George Wenzel. He was united in marriage to Bernice Wirth on February 6, 1951.

Bazil farmed south of Nebraska City and then worked as a carpenter in Nebraska City for many years. He remained active making hardwood cutting boards beyond his 101st birthday.

He is survived by his children David (Jackie) Wenzel, Republic, MO; Susan (Dave) Snodgrass, Avoca, NE; Ellen (Dave) Arthur, Stockton, MO; Don (Deanna) Wenzel, Syracuse, NE; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Ruth (Wirth) Pfeiffer; brother-in-law LeRoy Kreifels, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, infant son Ronald Wenzel, grandson Ryan Snodgrass, parents, sister Gladys, brothers- and sisters-in-law Robert and Polly Wirth; Leon and Evelyn Wirth, Donald and Naomi Schomerus, brother-in-law Bob Pfeiffer, and sister-in-law Velda Kreifels.  

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Tom Schultes officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Nebraska City.

The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, (7/21) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
