Barbara Lee (Smith) Lloyd

Barbara L. Lloyd, age 95 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Monday evening, February 16, 2026 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. 

Barbara Lee (Smith) Lloyd was born on January 10, 1931 in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Cecil T. and Helen M. (Lesley) Smith.  She grew up and attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1949. 

On August 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Earl B. Lloyd at Nebraska City, NE and to this union three children were born:  Barney, Nancy and Steven.  Earl preceded her in death on March 6, 2011.

After high school, Barbara worked at the Greenhouse in Hamburg.  She later began a career as a telephone operator in Hamburg for some 25 years.  After her time at the telephone company, she worked for a few years in the lunch program at Marnie Simons Elementary School in Hamburg.  She was a member of the United Trinity Church in Hamburg and was active in the Women’s Group and Youth Group.  She was also a long-time member of the Grape Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Barney Lloyd, Nancy Bieri (Dave) and Steven Lloyd (Becky) all of Hamburg, IA; six grandchildren: Alisha Ettleman (Bill), Kelly Murry (Ben), Josh Catlett (Jamie), Lacey Wurtele (Jason), Dani Gamber (Steven) and Tanner Lloyd (Anna); 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; other family and friends.

In addition to her husband Earl, she was preceded in death by her dad Cecil in 1972 and her mom Helen in 2000.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.  Burial will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
