Barbara K. Benton, age 76 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at her home.

Barbara Kay Benton was born on October 31, 1947 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Wayne L. and Loraine M. (Brixey) Earith.  She attended grade school in Percival, IA and high school in Sidney, IA and graduated with the Class of 1965.  She then went on to attend and graduate from Cosmetology School. 

She married Roy Hauptman in 1967 and the couple later divorced.  She later married Harry Benton in 1975 in Las Vegas, NV.  Barb and Harry divorced in 1982.  She reconnected with her high school sweetheart Bud Driever in the 1990's and they remained together until his death in 2013. 

Barb worked as a Beautician early in her career.  In the late 1980's, she ran Barb's Country Gallery in Malvern, IA for a few years where she sold primitive antiques and wood carvings that Harry carved and she painted.  She continued to enjoy painting and crafting throughout her life.  Later in life, she worked for over 20 years at Morton Place Assistant Living in Nebraska City, where she provided care to many residents. 

She is survived by her children:  Kimberly Diaz of Springfield, IL and Robbie Benton and wife Caitlin of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren:  Marquese “Marcus” Hauptman, Maria Butler (Tony),  Antonio Diaz and Harry Edward Benton; three great-grandchildren:  Kaesha Hauptman, Noah Butler and Nathaniel Butler; a brother:  Donald Earith (Veatrice) of Hutton Valley, MO; four nieces:  Rita, Rachel, Darla and Stephanie; other family and many friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her son William Wayne Hauptman in 1973; her parents and loving partner and companion Bud Driever.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery at Nebr. City. 

There is no visitation scheduled and the casket will remain closed.
