Ann M (Crook) Chaney

Ann M. Chaney, age 76, of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Auburn, NE.

Ann Maria Chaney was born on January 24, 1946 in Cardiff, Wales (southwest Great Britain); the daughter of Bertie L. and Doris (Vincent) Crook.   She attended school and graduated from Syracuse High School, Syracuse, NE with the Class of 1964. 

She was united in marriage to Paul K. “Pudge” Chaney on August 12, 1965 in Hiawatha, KS and to this union three children were born:  Paul, DiAnna and Natalie.

Ann worked for some 30 years at Excel/Cargill in Nebraska City in the Production Area.  She loved to crochet, can fruits and vegetables and cook.  She will be remembered for her delicious fried chicken that she often made!

She is survived by her children:  Paul A. “Buzz” Chaney (Patricia) of Nebr. City, DiAnna Wolfe (Martin) of Sidney, IA and Natalie Teeters (Joshua) of Nebr. City; 10 grandchildren:  Cassandra Hawk (Cody), Tabitha Hawk, Dustin Chaney (McKenzie), Dalton Chaney (Kiya), Xavier Chaney, Ryleigh Kelly, Kaylee Teeters, Andrew Wolfe, Norah Wolfe and Eriq Wolfe; 3 great-grandchildren:  Dawson, Scoutt and Haisley Chaney; siblings:  Linda Hayden of Nebr. City, June Chaney (Tony) of Nebr. City, Peggy Beatty (Kelly) of Lincoln, NE, Barbara Kunzman of Syracuse, NE and Bertie Crook (Mary) of Avoca, NE; brothers-in-law:  Dale Chaney (Janice) of Percival, IA, Tony Chaney (June) of Nebr. City, Pat Chaney (Carol) of Nebr. City and Jake Chaney (Terri) of Nebr. City; sister-in-law Gloria Chaney of Nebr. City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul “Pudge” on July 1, 2020.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hidden Falls Event Center in Nebr. City on Sept. 10, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.   Inurnment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg, IA.
