Ann L. Bade, age 87 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on December 21, 2023 at the Ambassador Villa in Nebr. City.
Ann Loretta Bade was born on February 17, 1936 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Emil A. and Mary E. (Buss) Kreifels. She attended St. Joseph’s School through the 6th Grade, then District 12 through the 8th Grade and finally St. Bernard’s Academy, where she graduated in 1954.
On June 14, 1955, she was united in marriage to Edward C. Bade at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City.
Ann worked as a Bookkeeper for many years. First for Ocoma Foods from 1954 to 1970 and then Farmers Coop from 1970 to 1986. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City and St. Mary’s Christian Mothers for which she previously served as Treasurer.
In her younger years she was an accomplished pianist. In her retirement, Ann discovered quilting. She was an exceptional quilter and won many awards both locally and nationally, for her talents. She freely shared her time and talent, teaching quilting and mentoring young children and beginners who were eager to learn the craft of quilting. She made around 400 quilts, most of which have been given to family, friends and charities.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Bade of Nebr. City, NE; brother Emil Kreifels of Guernsey, WY; sister Louise Kreifels of Oakland, CA; nephew Christopher Kreifels of Orlando, FL; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law Arthur and Irene Bade; siblings: Henry Kreifels, Elizabeth Detloff, Margaret Strange and Mary Josephine Frost.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Mark Pfeiffer celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.
A Rosary will be recited prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Lourdes Central Catholic.
