Alice J. O’Neill, age 82 of Nebr. City passed away on Tuesday evening, September 14, 2021 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Alice Jane O’Neill was born on November 7, 1938 in Grand Island, NE; the daughter of Julius H. and Bertha (Wagner) Sievers.  She grew up and attended school in Grand Island where she graduated from Grand Island High School with the Class of 1956.

She was united in marriage to Daniel Joseph O’Neill on August 29, 1959 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island, NE and to this union six children were born:  Michael, Thomas, Barbara, Robert, Patrick and Douglas.

Dan and Alice moved to Nebraska City from Council Bluffs, IA in 1978.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.  Alice worked at the former JC Penney Store in Nebraska City for 14 years until it’s closing and then began working for Rebecca Engle at Edward Jones Investments.  She retired after working there for some 13 years.   The focus of Alice’s life was raising her children, loving her husband, and providing support to her entire family. She also was an avid Husker fan; enjoyed flowers, playing Pitch with the card club she founded and all games that included the whole family, gardening, traveling, camping, painting and creating beautiful stained glass art works.

She is survived by her husband Daniel of Nebr. City; children:  Michael O’Neill (Sheri) of Hastings, NE, Thomas O’Neill (Joni) of Loveland, CO, Barbara Stukenholtz (Ed) of Nebr. City, Robert O’Neill (Terri) of Olathe, KS, Patrick O’Neill (Margon) of Overland Park, KS and Douglas O’Neill (Nikki) of Lee’s Summit, MO; 20 grandchildren:  Jennifer Levy, Nicole Griffin, Adam, Ryan and Eric Dawson, Fr. Ryan and Clint O’Neill, Daniel, Kyle, Nicholas and Caleb Stukenholtz, Molly Salazar, Max, Mitch, Connor, Kelsey, Sam and Maggie O’Neill, George and Ava Smith; 14 great-grandchildren:  McKenzie and Jonathon Miller, Davis and Kaari Dawson, Kayli, Addison, Alice, Spencer, Liam, Alex, Sawyer, Piper and Edith Stukenholtz and Leonardo Salazar; sisters:  Dorothy Gamble of Seattle, WA and Elsie Roush of Nebr. City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Albert Sievers and sisters:  Helen Bethke and Esther Skinner.

Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with her grandson Fr. Ryan O’Neill celebrating the Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Benedict’s Cemetery at Nebraska City.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from  5:00  p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City followed by a rosary/prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
