Alberta Lee “Bertie” (Redden) Nichols, age 96 of Nehawka, NE passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City.
Alberta Lee Nichols was born on September 7, 1929 in Murray, NE; the daughter of Alonzo “Rose” and Sarah Emily “Sally” (Hicks) Redden.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life Jesse Manuel Nichols in 1947 at Hiawatha, KS. The couple made their home in Nehawka, NE and welcomed a son Jimmy Lee in August of 1947.
Alberta worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills for some 30 years before retiring in 1999. She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and patriot of the USA. She enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids events and attending Dusty Blue dances. She loved country music and loved to dance.
She is survived by daughter-in-law Linda Nichols of Nehawka, NE; two grandchildren: Laura (Nichols) Rose of Nehawka, NE and Jimmy Nichols II (Jill) of Davenport, FL; three great-grandchildren: Jessica Rose, Brady Rose and Jake Nichols; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse in 1980, a son Jimmy Nichols on October 16, 2024; her parents Rose and Sally Redden; sister Rosemary Redden and husband Howard, and brother Neil Redden and wife Donna.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday; January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery north of Nehawka, NE.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday (Jan. 5) at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
