Albert D. Hickey

Albert D. Hickey, age 89 of Nebraska City, NE (formerly Sidney, IA) passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Emerald Nursing & Rehab in Lincoln, NE.

Albert Duane Hickey was born on June 11, 1936 in Thurman, IA; the son of John Eugene and Freda Eileen (Jordon) Hickey.  He grew up and attended school in Thurman, graduating from Thurman High School with the Class of 1954.  After high school, he attended Milford Trade School where he earned his degree in Diesel Mechanics.  He served in the Army National Guard for eight years.

On June 22, 1958, Albert was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Magel in Sidney, IA and to this union two sons were born:  David and Grant.  He began his teaching career at Maryville High School in Maryville, MO where he taught Auto Mechanics.  He later taught Farm Equipment Maintenance classes at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) for some 15 years before retiring.    After retirement, Albert and Bonnie moved to Sidney, IA where he remodeled and renovated  their home.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Hickey of Nebraska City, NE; sons:  David Hickey of Firth, NE and Grant Hickey of Nebr. City, NE; other family and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, IA.  Inurnment will follow the service.

Memorials may be given to the Thurman Methodist Church in Thurman, IA in his memory.
