Eldon L. Hammers, age 60 of Talmage, NE passed away early Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, NE.

Eldon was born on November 2, 1957 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of LeRoy E. “Buck” and Iona June (Albrecht) Hammers.  He grew up in Nebraska City and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the class of 1976.

On April 15, 1983 he was united in marriage to Terry Kay Nerison at the Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebr. City.  He worked at Dawson Oil, Gangels and Douglas Tire in Nebr. City.  He then went to work as a custodian at Nebraska City High School for a few years and then returned to work at Douglas Tire.

His hobbies included fishing and putting model cars together.  He enjoyed playing Nintendo WI and playing with his pet rabbit “Thumper”, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Eldon is survived by his wife Terry Hammers of Talmage, NE; children:  Aletha Neemann and husband Robert of Auburn, NE and Daniel Hammers of Nebraska City, NE; two grandchildren:  Payton Neemann and Robert Neemann, Jr.; dad LeRoy “Buck” Hammers of Nebr. City, NE;  brother Dale Hammers and wife Pam of Highland Ranch, CO and brother-in-law Burt Weible and wife Cindy of Nebr. City, NE; brother-in-law Gary Nerison and wife Jessica of Auburn, NE; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Iona Hammers on June 29, 2012; sister Rosalee Weible on March 7, 2002; niece Jennifer Weible and mother and father-in-law Gary and Delores Nerison.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the mortuary.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

I knew Eldon for a long time back when I was a kid in the boy scouts he was a kind man he was always willing to help then we I entered High school in the fall of 1997 he was there working the whole time I was there he and I would always chat here and there one of the nicest guys I ever met he will missed .See u on the other side buddy

So saddened to hear this and sorry to find out too late to attend his memorial. Eldon was a fun and funny guy, and a very kind heart. So glad that he is not suffering any longer. RIP.
