June M. Ahrens, 79 of Omaha (formerly Nebr. City) passed away on Jan. 30, 2018 at Brookestone Meadows Care Center in Elkhorn, NE.

She was born on April 15, 1938 at Worthington, MN; the daughter of Charles Isaac and Libbie June (Levine) Dovey.  She graduated from the Nebr. City High School with the class of 1956.

She was united in marriage to Eston E. Ahrens on April 11, 1959 at the Presbyterian Church in Nebr. City.

June worked at the Nebr. City News Press and the former Otoe Foods in Nebraska City in her younger years.  Later, she worked at Truman High School in Independence, MO as the attendance secretary.  She retired from Truman in 1996.

She is survived by her children:  Chuck Ahrens of Las Vegas, NV; Mike Ahrens and wife Dorena of Omaha, NE and Angie Ahrens of Omaha; a grandson Christopher Ahrens, brothers:   Richard Dovey of Nebr. City and Mitch Dovey and wife Sheryl of Denver, CO; sister-in-law Marilyn Reuter and husband Bud of Syracuse, NE; other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Eston on Dec. 24, 2013.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday (2/2) at the Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Mike Wenig officiating.  Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery, Nebr  City, NE.

The family will greet friends on Friday from  2-3 p.m. at mortuary.

Memorials may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Angie, I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember all the cute clothes she used to make you and how lucky I thought you were. I also remember her working at Truman and was telling my oldest, who is a freshman there, about you both just recently. Prayers to you and your family.
