Stewart Franklin Stacey Sr. was born on March 11, 1927 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to  Louis and Mary Stacey.  

Frank enlisted in the Navy and served as a Sea Bee in the Philippines for three years.  He was Honorably Discharged on May 7,1946.

He was united in marriage to Helen Miller Girouex on March 1, 1949 in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Upon their return back to Iowa, Frank and Helen settled on a farm outside of Riverton.  Frank worked as a hired hand for Floyd Fender, worked for Roger Booker doing carpentry work, as a gas station attendant in Farragut and for Earl May Company in Shenandoah before retiring.

Frank enjoyed riding horses and being a member of a saddle club, traveling, dancing, bowling, playing cards (10 point pitch was a favorite), gambling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.   He was often seen with a smile on his face, a hat on his head and his favorite pipe in his hand.  

He is survived by two children, Betty Booker of Riverton and Stewart Franklin Stacey Jr. (wife Kris) of Shenandoah, several grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great -great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Shellie and Joe Hiatt.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Stacey, daughters Alice Apperson,  Donna Jean Mortimore, son in-law Roger Booker, sons Howard “Sonny” Girouex, Richard Girouex, Robert Girouex, great grandson Justin Booker,  granddaughter Lisa Bennett, his parents Louis and Mary Stacey, siblings Delbert, Louis, Jim, Ed, Clarence, Merle and sister Jesse.

Frank passed away at his home on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the age of 90.

Complete military honors will be conducted by the Hamburg American Legion Post.

Memorials may be given to the Riverton Fire and Rescue.

Sorry to hear of Frank passing. I remember him well. Junior and I were the same age. Prayers to the family.
