Robert “Bob” L. White, age 77, of Nebraska City passed away April 7, 2017 in Syracuse at his daughters home..

Robert was born on January 26, 1940 in Sidney, IA; the son of Frank and Dorothy (McNeese) White. He attended school in Sidney before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1956 where he served until his honorable discharge in 1964.

He was united in marriage to Lola May Doiel on December 23, 1980 in Hamburg, IA. Robert was employed in painting, carpentry, and other home improvement and repair jobs. Later, he worked as a Cook at the Nebraska City Manor for some 14 years.  After his time as the Manor, he worked at Cargill for some 6 years.

He is survived by his wife Lola White of Nebr. City; children: Sherill Gibson of Nebraska City, NE; Robert White, Jr. and fiance’ Beth Walton of Villisca, IA; Cindy Suppes and fiance Marion Parks of Syracuse, NE; Jeanette Baker and husband Anthony of Nebraska City, NE; Billy Schneider and fiance’ Cobra Matthews of Sidney, IA; and Ron Schneider of Nebraska City, NE. 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Sister: Bev Baker of Nebraska City, NE; “special friend” Bandit; numerous other family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Gude Mortuary Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday; April 12, 2016.    Burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery with complete military honors by the US Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail.

The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

To the family of Bob, I extend my very deepest sympathies. I worked at the Manor the same time that Bob did he always knew how to make me laugh. He was a dedicated hard worker who gave his all. We had a lot of fun joking and talking about his family who were so very important to him. May God give you peace and comfort in the days to come. God Bless you all.
