Zola Smith Obituary
Zola H. Smith, age 100 of Nebraska City passed away on Sunday; Dec. 16, 2018 at Morton Place in Nebr. City. She had made her home there since October of 2015.
She was born on June 30, 1918 in Union, NE; the daughter of Albert H. and Caroline V. (Hall) Rakes. She attended school in Union.
On December 8, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lucian M. Smith. The couple was blessed with three daughters: Donna, Geraldine and Susan.
Zola was a housewife/homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived her daughters and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother Orval Rakes and wife Lois of Nebr. City and their daughters Cheryl and Monica; other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lucian in 1999, a daughter Donna Ferguson, sister Evelyn Holmes and brother Harley Rakes.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday (12/20) at 1:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City; burial will follow in the East Union Cemetery near Union, NE.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
