Thelma J. Howard, age 91, of Hamburg, IA passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg.
Thelma was born on May 12, 1927 in rural Sidney, IA; the daughter of Albert Bird and Mabel (Lockett) Sumner. She attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Dean O. Howard on June 7, 1948 in Omaha, NE. Thelma was a loving and devoted mother and wife.
She is survived by her children: Julee Smith of Omaha, NE, David Howard of Hamburg, IA, Philip Howard of Coppers Cover, TX, Janis Ireland of Lincoln, NE and Jean Howard of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister Doris Meek of Nebraska City; other family and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean Howard in 1977, daughter Judith Popish in 1994, grandchildren: Thomas, Alexandria and Camden, and eleven brothers and sisters.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg, IA.
The family will greet friends from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.
Memorials may be directed to the family to aid in expenses.
