Sylvia May (Perkins) Adkins

Sylvia M. Adkins, age 88 of Nebraska City passed away on Sunday; August 4, 2019 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.

She was born on October 29, 1930 at rural Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Harvey and Elsie (Russell) Perkins.  She attended school and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1948.

Sylvia worked at the former Pendleton Woolen Mills in Nebraska City as a Seamstress for many years.  She also worked as a CNA in Nebraska City.  She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Nebraska City and was very active in many church activities until her health failed.  She also held several offices in UNITE Local #870.

She is survived by her two granddaughters:  Leah Smallfoot (Kyle) of Elkhorn, NE and Erin Johnson (Chip) of Nebr. City; daughter in law Betty Joe Adkins of Nebr. City; five great-grandchildren:  Kylee, Kaleb and Kody Smallfoot, and Brianna and Makenzie Johnson; a sister Lola Belle Horner of Tecumseh, NE; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Dallas W. Adkins, Jr. and former husband Dallas W. Adkins, Sr.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday (8/8) at 10:30 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City; burial will follow in the Camp Creek Cemetery southeast of Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (8/7) at Gude Mortuary.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
