Sandra Jean Anderson

Sandra J. “Sandy” Anderson, age 80 of Hamburg passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Sandy was born on July 2, 1939 in Shenandoah, IA; the daughter of Harold “Thompson” and Marjorie (Carl) Greever.  She attended school in Strahan, IA where she graduated from Strahan High School in 1957.  

On February 15, 1959 she was united in marriage to Al Anderson at the United Methodist Church in Strahan, IA and to this union two children were born:  Terry and Carla.

Sandy worked at various jobs over the years including as a bookkeeper at various schools and as a para-educator in the Shenandoah Schools.  Sandy and Al spend their winters in Arizona, and  enjoyed camping, traveling, boating and playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church in Randolph, IA and later the United Methodist Church in Hamburg, IA. She was also a dedicated member of the morning coffee club in Randolph.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Al Anderson of Sidney, IA; children:  Terry Anderson of Hamburg, IA and Carla Nahkunst and husband Jim of Hamburg, IA; five grandchildren:  Lindsey Carter and husband David of Randolph, IA, Ashley Ormsby and husband Jon of Moscow, IA, Chelsey Lorimor and husband Marcus of Bartlett, IA, Colin Nahkunst of Hamburg, IA and Bradley Nahkunst of Hamburg, IA; four great-grandchildren:  Jayden, Anderson, Gracelynn and Jaxon; sister-in-law Dorothy Walter and husband Gerald of Northboro, IA; aunt Ruby Carl of Broomfield, CO; nephews Travis Greever and wife Betsy of Fillmore, MO and Pete Carl of Broomfield, CO; other family and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gordon Greever.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg, IA.  The family will greet friends prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery at Randolph, IA.

Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Methodist Church or the Randolph Methodist Church.
