Patsy J. “PJ” howell, age 77 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Sunday; Aug. 26, 2018 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.
She was born on May 13, 1941 south of Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Andrew Phillip and Beulah C. (Boldra) Barrett. She attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the class of 1959.
After high school, PJ moved to Minneapolis and worked for Northwest Orient Airlines. She returned back to Hamburg after a few years and began to raise her family. She then began working at American Meter Co.. She later sold real estate in the Hamburg area and a few years later began her career at Harrah’s Casino as Slot Machine Manager until 2004. She then provided in home healthcare. During her many years of working, she also owned and operated antique stores in both Brownville and Nebr. City, NE.
She is survived by her children: Cathy Bare and husband Troy of Red Oak, IA, David Propp and significant other Jan Kraft, Danny Propp and wife Sheila, Dennis Propp and wife Tammy all of Hamburg IA and Devin Howell and wife Teressa of Sand Springs, OK; 14 grandchildren: Gabrielle (Jason) Sloop, Catherine (David) Fakler, Madelaine Ferguson, Leah (Tom) Elwood, Zeke Propp, Mallory Propp, Seth (Taisa) Propp, Jarrod Propp, Bianca (Kevin) Countryman, Baylee Propp, Justin King, Falicia King, Latisha King, and Courtney Borrego; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister Ruby Stookey; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother Bill Barrett and a sister Betty Lewis as well as her parents.
No formal funeral services will be held.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday (8/31) from 9:30 am. to 10:30 am at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA. Following the visitation, PJ will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg.
A memorial fund is being established.
