Margaret Varenhorst Obituary
Margaret E. Varenhorst, age 87 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg.
Margaret was born on December 8, 1931 in Tabor, IA; the daughter of Ray and Wilma (Gard) Whitney. She grew up and attended school in Tabor, graduating with the class of 1949.
On February 20, 1977, Margaret was united in marriage to Herman W. Varenhorst in Neosha, MO. Over the years, she worked at various jobs, including Fetty’s, Richman Gordman, Nebraska Outerwear for 18 years and Pamida for some 20 years.
She is survived by her husband Herman Varenhorst of Hamburg, IA; children: Wes Fritschle and wife Joyce of Gaithersburg, MD, Tamara Fritzchle - Olson and husband David of Fresno, CA and Ron Fritschle and wife Karen of Nebr. City, NE, four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister: Caroline Hayes and husband Clint of Mountain Home, AR; other family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Wilma Whitney, brother Carl Whitney, infant brother Howard Richard Whitney, granddaughter Caitlin and stillborn granddaughter Lara.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Troy Notz officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA.
