Kenneth Wayne Giles

Kenneth Wayne Giles was born on September 7, 1936 to Ival Giles and Mary (Duerson) Giles in McFall, MO, Gentry County.

He attended grade school and high school in McFall.  He then attended Missouri University and graduated with a degree in Geology.  

Ken worked for various insurance companies in Kansas City, including AAA and American Family.   While working at AAA he met his wife, Mary Ann Gude.  They were united in marriage in 1972 in Miami, OK.  They just celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary this July.  He also worked at American Family Insurance Company for 30 years before retiring.  Ken and Mary Ann resided at Lake Lotawana for over 40 years.  They had many wonderful years at the Lake before moving back to Iowa at Mary Ann’s family farm in Hamburg.

Ken had two airplanes and had both his pilots and A&P (aircraft maintenance) licenses.  He enjoyed flying and working on his cars.  He especially enjoyed going to the casino and working in the garden growing his cantaloupes and watermelons.

Ken passed away August 16, 2019.  He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Giles, his niece and nephew Colleen Pelser and Brian Lutz of Baltimore, MD, and a cousin Carolyn Gordon of Nevada, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Keith Giles.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at McFall Cemetery in McFall, MO.

Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Rescue Squad.
