Kenneth Cole Obituary

Kenneth Gene Cole, age 84, of Nebraska City passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebr. City.

Kenneth was born on March 27, 1935 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Charles Louis and Gladys Esther (McLaury) Cole.  He grew up and attended school in Nebraska City; graduated from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1953.

He was married to Mary Elizabeth Hall on July 10, 1955 at the First Presbyterian Church in Nebr. City and to this union three children were born:  Lois, Tom and Diana.  He worked at Morton House-Lipton for 29 ½ years as a machinist and 16 years at American Meter before retiring in March of 2000.  After retiring, Kenneth kept himself busy with various odd jobs.

Kenneth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir and served as a Deacon.  He was a Mason and member of the Western Star Lodge #2, the Tangier Shrine and the Arbor Shrine Club.  He served as Parade Chairman and drove the 1923 Fire Truck in parades until his health caused him to retire from that job, which he loved.  He was a loyal Husker, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals Fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, brother Ronald Cole and daughter Lois Hamilton in 2008.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Cole of Nebr. City; son Thomas Cole of Lincoln and daughter Diana (Mike) Bohlen of Talmage; grandchildren:  Jason and Jennifer Hamilton; Adam Bohlen and significant other Danielle and Kyle Bohlen and significant other Stephanie; great-grandchildren:  Jacob, Kaleb and Jordan Hamilton; Jade, Dalton and Tessa Fastnacht and Ainsley Bohlen; great-great grandson Emmit Hamilton; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday (8/5) at the mortuary.

Memorials may be given to the Lupus Foundation, Tangier Shrine or Davita Dialysis.
