Karen W. Carver, age 79 of LaVista, NE; formerly Nebraska City passed away on Saturday; April 13, 2019 at Hillcrest Care Center in Bellevue, NE.
She was born on May 3, 1939 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Ralph Leland and Florence Helen (Speakman) Woods.. She attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1957. Karen then attended and graduated from Cosmetology School in Lincoln, NE and worked for a short time in the profession.
On October 8, 1959, she was united in marriage to Houard Henry “Hank” Carver in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1979 at the young age of 42.
After Hank’s death, Karen began her career with Marriott Hotels. She worked for the Marriott in Customer Care for some 34 years and retired in September of 2018. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for 13 years.
She is survived by her children: Kelly Carver of Bellevue, NE, Karla Carver and friend Doug Wilder of Omaha, NE, Kris Carver and wife Suzanne of Council Bluffs, IA and Bradley Percifield of Ralston, NE; nine grandchildren; siblings: Don Woods and wife Mary Lou of Dunbar, NE, Pat Cameron of Omaha, NE and Judy Horstman and husband Dale of Nebr. City; nieces, nephews , other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Ernest Woods as well as her parents.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday (4/18) at 11:00 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City; burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery at Nebr. City.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
A memorial fund is being established to aid Nebraska Flood Victims.
