Elizabeth Jane (McCown) DuVall

Elizabeth J. “Liz” DuVall, age 85 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on September 23, 2019 at Prestige Care Center in Nebr. City.

Liz was born on May 18, 1934 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Charles and Alice Lillian (Harl) McCown.  She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1951.

She worked at Morton House Kitchens in Nebraska City for 24 years, then at Pendleton’s Woolen Mills for 17 years.  She ended her working career at Nebraska City Public Schools where she worked for the hot lunch program for some 10 years.

Liz was a member of the Nebraska City Presbyterian Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons:  Dean DuVall and wife Denise and Scott DuVall and wife Ann all of Nebraska City; son-in-law Donald Hershey of Sioux City, IA; 10 grandchildren:  Adrian DuVall, Bo DuVall and wife Kathryn, Clay Duvall, DJ Duvall, McKenzie DuVall, Chad Hershey, Dawn Hershey, Tara Hershey, Sara Hershey and Kara Hershey, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, other family and friends.

Liz was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy Hershey; grandson, Eric DuVall; her parents and three siblings:  Warren McCown, Eugene McCown and Marie Thomas.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening (9/25) at the mortuary.
