Dorothy A. Glenn, age 86 of Nebr. City (formerly Hamburg) passed away on Thursday morning; January 16, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City. She had resided at Morton House in Nebraska City since November of 2018.
She was born on January 9, 1934 at rural Percival, IA; the daughter of Harold Henry and Grace Elizabeth (McElroy) Foster. She attended school and graduated from the Sidney High School with the Class of 1951.
Shortly after her graduation, Dorothy began working at the Sidney Bank. She continued her employment there for some five years until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Walter Milton Glenn on May 20, 1956 in Rock Port, MO and to this union two children were born: Diane and David. Dorothy was very active in her community and was a member of the United Trinity Church, P.E.O., Eastern Star, and the former MLK Club (Married Ladies Klub). She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of the Empyrean’s. She received her private pilot’s license in the early 1970’s! She was an active and integral part of the family business-Glenn Implement-where she was the bookkeeper, secretary and served in various other capacities.
She is survived by her children: Dianne Glenn (David Price) of Broomfield, CO, David Glenn of Westboro, MO; four grandchildren and her dear friend Dr. Fred Ashler of Hamburg, IA; other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walt Glenn on Nov. 20, 2001, a brother Phillip Foster as well as her parents.
Funeral Services will be held Monday (Jan. 20) at 2:00 p.m. at United Trinity Church in Hamburg, IA; burial will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA. In honoring Dorothy’s wishes, the casket will remain closed.
Memorials may be given to the United Trinity Church or the Hamburg Fire/Rescue Dept.
