Curtis W. “Curt” Barrett, age 69 of rural Hamburg, IA passed away at Pleasant View Care Center in Rock Port, MO on September 12, 2019.
He was born on April 2, 1950 in Hamburg, IA; the son of Fred Martin and Irene Marjorie (Zach) Barrett. He attended school and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1968. He then attended college in Clarinda, IA where he received his Associates Degree. He later attended and earned both his Bachelor’s and Masters Degree at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO in Agri-Business.
He met his future wife Elona Lorain Hunt at Northwest Missouri State University and Curt and Elona were married on August 23, 1975 in Bethany, MO.
Curt was a long-time farmer; a job he truly loved! He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Elona Barrett of the home; three children: Kyle Barrett of Hamburg, IA, Raleigh Barrett of Omaha, NE and Natasha Barrett of Council Bluffs, IA; a granddaughter Rose Wilson, sister Linda Wells and husband Charles of Lee’s Summit, MO; other family and many friends.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Tuesday (Sept. 17) at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg; burial will follow the services.
The family will greet friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (9/17) at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
