Clarice R. (Hendrickson) Lang, 90 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA.
Clarice Ruth (Hendrickson) Lang was born on February 24, 1928 in Nemaha County, NE; the daughter of Clarence Oscar and Alberta Genevieve (Lotter) Hendrickson. She was the second born child out of 12 children. Growing up, she helped to take care of her younger brothers and worked to help her family while going to high school and then graduating from the Auburn High School in Auburn, NE with the class of 1946.
She met Claude Edward Lang, Sr. and they were married on January 9, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, NE and made their home on the island just south of Hamburg for 30 years until Claude’s passing in 1978. They had seven children: Claude Edward Lang, Jr., Carol Elaine Lang, Clayton Eugene Lang, Clyde Eric Lang, Clarke Edwin Lang, Curt Evan Lang and Cary Earl Lang. She liked having all her children‘s initials “CEL”. She made Hamburg her home for the past 70+ years.
She was a member of the Eagles Club for 45 years. Some of her favorite past times were playing cards, going to the slots at the casino, betting on horse races, attending sports and school functions of her children and grandchildren, watching Nebraska football and dancing. She especially loved dancing to the chicken dance song with her grandkids, eating french fries and ice cream. She worked hard on the family farms all her life and was often seen driving farm trucks or any other equipment they had to help make ends meet. She loved her family, friends, and extended family and always looked for the good in people. Clarice was a giver by nature and would never let someone in need go without. She was a loving and caring person to everyone she met, and she will be missed my many people far and wide.
She is survived by her sons: Claude, Jr. and wife Shelly Lang, Clayton and wife Judy Lang, and Cary; daughter Carol and husband Gary Woods all of Hamburg, IA; brothers: Clarence and Wilma Hendrickson, Harold and Anne Hendrickson, Ray and Linda Hendrickson, Earl and Beverly Hendrickson, Dennis and Pat Hendrickson who all reside in Hamburg, IA. Clarice was blessed to have 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great granddaughters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Claude, Sr. on November 4, 1978;
sons: Clarke, Curt and Clyde Lang; great-grandsons: Nathan, Wyatt and Trigg Lang; brother Dale; sisters: LaVonne, Gladys and Esther; two infant sisters: Delores Charlene and Cheryl Ann and her parents Clarence and Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday January 25, 2019 at the United Trinity Church in Hamburg, IA with Curt Crain officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg.
The family will greet friends Thursday (1/24) evening at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Clarice Lang Memorial Fund to better the town Clarice loved (Hamburg, IA).
