Cindy L. Blankenship

Cindy L. Blankenship, age 61 of Lincoln, NE passed away at her home on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Cindy was born on September 21, 1958 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Lester Keith and Betty Louise (Weible) Blankenship.  She graduated from Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca (SDA) High School with the class of 1976.  After high school, she attended the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, NE where she received a Veterinary Tech Degree.

Cindy worked at various jobs over the years, including at O.P.P.D. and the Waverly Auto Auction where she was the Fleet Manager for 15 years.  She also owned and operated the Otoe Bar (Otoe Country Club) for several years.  She was famous for her Moscow Mules.  Most recently, she worked at Hamlow Elementary School in Waverly as a custodian.

She was a former member of the Nebraska City Rescue Squad and was an EMT.  She had a deep love for animals; especially her beloved Beagle “Jack“.  She enjoyed sports; and was an avid softball and volleyball player.  She also played in several Pool Leagues.  She was a huge Nebraska Volleyball fan, held season tickets, and attended every home game that she could!  Another favorite past-time was riding “Harleys“ with her friends.  In an effort to help those less fortunate, Cindy was a tissue donor.

She is survived by her sister Cathy Blankenship of Nebr. City, NE; two nieces:  Bailey McClane and husband Jake of Lincoln, NE and Sadie Blankenship of Plattsmouth, NE; one nephew Cody Blankenship of Lincoln, NE; one great nephew Camden Blankenship; sister-in-law Darla Mattice of Plattsmouth, NE; aunts and uncles:  Charles Blankenship of Auburn, NE, Katie Chapin, Marilyn Weible and Donetta Weible all of Nebr. City and Lois Rodriguez and husband Tony of Sun Valley, CA; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Michael Blankenship in 1992

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends on Sunday (10/20) at the mortuary from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
