Charlene Davis Obituary

Wanda Charlene (Moore) Davis, 89, of Farragut, IA entered into rest on July 17, 2019, in Hamburg, IA.  She was born September 2, 1929, in Fremont county near Riverton, IA to Victor Newton Moore and Josephine Theo (Cowden) Moore.  She was raised in and near Riverton, IA.

She attended country school south of Riverton before moving into Riverton where she graduated from Riverton High School in 1947.

She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Thomas Davis on December 25, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Riverton.  To this union one daughter and three sons were born: Charlotte, Larry, Kim and Brad.

Charlene and Bill lived in various places in Nebraska, Wyoming and Iowa while their family grew.  Then they settled in Randolph where they raised their children and Charlene supported her husband in his business ventures.  After selling their businesses, they moved full circle back to Riverton.  They purchased a home which was special to Charlene because as a child she frequented this house built by her relatives.  In later years she moved to Farragut.

Charlene was a women of faith and strong work ethic.  Charlene’s genuine caring nature allowed her the ability to develop boundless lifelong friendships.  She was active in the Riverton and Farragut senior clubs as well as the Riverton and Farragut United Methodist Churches.  As a young lady, she worked at Mutual of Omaha.  Then later, while raising their family, she was employed by Henry Fields and the Fremont-Mills Community School District, was owner/operator of Randolph Café, and also worked at Vogel Popcorn, and Grape Community Hospital.  At times she worked nights, so during the day she could care for Bill after he was stricken with ill health.

Charlene loved to travel.  She and Bill enjoyed traveling together after his retirement.  She continued her travels after Bill’s passing.  Charlene experienced the western United States, Alaska, Maine, and Churchill, Canada.  She also enjoyed many other smaller tours.

She was preceded in death by her husband William, daughter Charlotte, son Larry, sister Marian, and brothers Max, Robert, Charles, Edward, James and Richard.

She is survived by sons Kim (Becky) and Brad (Phyllis), sister Margaret Catlett, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
