Todd E. Aksamit

Todd E. Aksamit, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024 at his home in rural Syracuse.

Todd was born on May 13, 1959 in Lincoln, NE; the son of Tony and LaVern (Linhart) Aksamit.  He grew up and attended school in Lincoln, Papillion and Waverly, NE where he graduated from the Waverly High School with the Class of 1977. 

After high school, Todd drove a semi,  worked for a construction company and then started his own concrete business, Aksamit Construction.  He began his career in Syracuse in 2008, working for the City of Syracuse.  He worked as Manager for the Syracuse Parks Dept. and later, in 2016,  as Manager of the Syracuse Street Department. 

He was united in marriage to Paula M. Paap on September 16, 1989 in Lincoln NE.

Todd was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved to coyote hunt and deer hunt and was a leader for the Eagle Coyote Hunters.  He also coached baseball and softball and was an avid Nebraska Husker Fan.

He is survived by his wife Paula of Syracuse, NE; children:  Rayce Aksamit of Syracuse and Shayna Murrell and husband Ryan of Cook, NE; a grandchild Ava Aksamit; his mother LaVern Aksamit of Wilber, NE, a sister Robin Mignogna and husband Gene of Lincoln, NE, a brother Tony Aksamit and wife Lisa of Duenweg, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Tony Aksamit in 2008.

Private family services will be held at the Otoe Cemetery northeast of Otoe, NE.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on April 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kimmel Event Center in Syracuse, NE.
