Roberta "Bobbie" Kidd

Roberta (Bobbie) Kidd, 84, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024 in Florida, with her family by her side. 

She fought a tough battle against pulmonary fibrosis and severe rheumatoid arthritis.  “Bobbie”, as she was affectionately known in her hometown of Nebraska City, was born on September 10, 1939 to Robert E. and Elsie I. (Jensen) Lee. She had a brother Jerry and five sisters: Betty Marshall, Norma Lee, JoAnn Lee, Dorothy Chase, and Mary Ann Frakes, all of whom preceded her in death. Bobbie also lost her husband Marlin in 2017.

Bobbie was well known in the Nebraska City community, remembered by many as the proprietor of Main Street Movies.  After Main Street Movies closed, she continued making friends while working in the Lied Lodge Center Gift Shop, where she worked for many years prior to retiring.

Bobbie Kidd leaves behind her daughter Carrie O’Connor (Rod) of Merritt Island, FL, son DJ Pfeifer (Angela) of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren:  Jessica and Alex; thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and other family and many friends.

Bobbie was well known for her devotion to the Nebraska Cornhusker football program – even earning the title of “Greatest Husker Fan in Nebraska” in 2007. Her red and white home on 3rd Avenue is testament to her allegiance to the Huskers.  She will be dearly missed by her family and by her tight knit community of Nebraska City.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City, NE.  Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City, followed by a Celebration of Life at Valentino’s Restaurant on South 11th Street in Nebraska City. In Bobbie’s honor, the family encourages the wearing of red – Bobbie’s favorite color, or any form of Husker attire.
