George A. Cook, age 85 of Riverton, IA passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at The Ambassador in Sidney, IA.
George was born on August 13, 1932 in Watson, MO; the son of Elza and Lillian (Maness) Cook. He attended grammar school in Watson.
George worked at construction for many years on different projects and at the Packing Plant in Phelps City.
He is survived by significant other Ethel Ward of Riverton, IA; son: Tim Cook of Brownville, NE; Ethel’s children: Richard (Julie) Ward of Tabor, IA; Jackie (Doug) Wertz of Riverton, IA; Kelvin (Loriann) Ward of Shenandoah, IA; Stanley (Leslie) Ward of Griswold, IA; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; siblings: Rollie Cook of Maryville, MO; Irene Turner of St. Joseph, MO and Shirley Driscoll of Kansas City, MO; other family and friends.
George was preceded in death by his first wife, daughter Arvella Jean; parents and siblings: Clyde, Mary, Harold, Howard and Betty.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, IA with Rev. Mat Schafner officiating. Interment will follow the services.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (1/11) evening at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton.
Memorials may be given to the Riverton Fire and Rescue.
