Music by The Piano Brothers

Ethel Loretta Collins was born on May 29, 1921, approximately five miles south of Sidney, IA at her Weston grandparents home.  She was the daughter of Clyde and Dorothy (Weston) Collins.

On October 7, 1937, Ethel Collins married Earnest Marion Aspedon (known as Marion) at Rockport, MO.  Pete and Louise Shirley stood up with them.  Louise was a first cousin to Marion and also a first cousin to Ethel, now double cousins.

Marion and Ethel started their home in a newly constructed garage.  As years passed they purchased a farm west of Riverton, where they raised Beverly Joan, Donald Leon, and Betty Margaret Elizabeth.

In the first years of their marriage Marion was a farmer and Ethel was a farm wife and mother.  As the children grew older, Ethel worked at American Meter and owned her own Beauty Shop for 17 years in Riverton, IA.  Ethel lost Marion to cancer in 1979.  After Marion’s death Ethel joined her daughter, Betty in Omaha.  She was always trying to further her education and went to Iowa Western Community College for a course in cooking.  She worked at different jobs and at the retirement age of 63 she started another job at Greyhound Information Center, where she worked until age 83.  At this time she had to quit working because they closed the center.  Ethel and Beverly then moved to Papillion, NE where Ethel volunteered at Midland Hospital for several years.

Ethel is survived by her children:  Beverly Nenneman of Papillion, NE; Betty and Willard Andrew of Clarinda, IA and Dick and Carole Aspedon, Van Buren, AR; grandchildren:  Troy and Patty Eskew (Beverly); Tracy and Tonya Eskew (Beverly); Chris and Sue Finnell (Betty); Scott Finnell (Betty); Amy Jo Finnell (Betty); Holly and Brent Stratton (Donald) and Jason and Cynthia Aspedon (Donald); ten great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Riverton Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Assn.
