Patty Lou Stevens, age 75 of Essex, IA passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Patty was born on September 20, 1942 in Grant City, MO; the daughter of James Basil and Helen Maxine (Sportsman) Fones.  She graduated from the Hamburg High School with the class of 1960.  

She was united in marriage to Robert Lewis Stevens on December 12, 1959 in Logan, IA and to this union four children were born:  David, Diana, Dena and Donna..

She worked for many years at the former Interstate Nursery in Hamburg and later at Henry Field Nursery in Shenandoah.  She also worked at CDS in Red Oak, IA as well as Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah.

She is survived by her husband Robert Stevens of Essex, IA; children:  David Stevens and wife Susan of Essex, IA; Dena Sons and husband Bill of Shenandoah, IA and Donna Olson and husband Don of Essex, IA; seven grandchildren:  Matthew Stevens and fiance Tracy Gastineau, Andrea Scharp, Stephanie Neve and husband Steve, Adam Courtier, Justin Sons and wife Ashlyn, Ashleigh Sons and special friend Elliot Smith and Haileigh Olson; four great-grandchildren:  Jameson and Samuel Neve, Stella Scharp and Jaelyn Sons; other family and friends.

Patty was preceded in death by infant daughter, Diana Stevens; her mother Maxine and two sisters:  Phyllis Buttercase and Donna Bengtson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA with Rick Sons officiating.  The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Private inurnment services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Hamburg, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Uncle Bob, David Susan, Dena and Bill Donna and Don and families,
We are sending our love and deepest sympathies to you all. Aunt Pat will be so missed. She was always such a wonderful person and treated me as part of her family. I am going to miss chatting with her and Uncle Bob in the grocery store and catching up. Loved listening to her casino endeavers I bet she's playing right now. To all of you cherish your memories those can never be stolen from you.
the family Chain hs been broken but some day it will be linked again.. Gods Blessings to you all for peace and comfort in the coming days. Remember God only takes the best and she was one of the very Best!!

Bob, Dave, Dena and Donna - Gary and I are so very sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and mother! We know that this is very hard for all of you and we truly hope that you are able to find peace even though grieving. You and your families are in our thoughts and our prayers!!! God Bless you all!
