Rhetta Jean Dyke of Hamburg, IA, entered into rest on July 29, 2017 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 78.

Jean was born on May 7, 1939 in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Paul and Anna Mae (Collins) Gregg.

Jean grew up in Hamburg and attended Hamburg High School.  She also attended Iowa Western Community College, studying human services.  She worked for Brodkey Jewelers in Omaha and later for Interstate Nurseries and Hamburg Oil.  She cared for her mother for several years as well.  Jean loved being a mom and grandma, and she was an avid reader.  She enjoyed cooking big meals for her family, playing cribbage and working in her flower bed.

Jean is survived by her son Patrick Doiel of Hamburg, IA; daughter Leigh Calfee (Carl) of Nebraska City, NE; grandson Kerry Williams (Carrie) of Denton, TX; granddaughter Tessa Samarripas (Anthony) of Plano, TX; granddaughter Ashley Frost of Council Bluffs, IA; grandson Trent Calfee of Sidney, IA; and grandson Luke Calfee of Nebraska City, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Anna Mae; by an infant brother, Gerald; and by two sons, Greg and Matthew.

Family visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.  Graveside Services will be Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IA with Rev. Daniel Stuck officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Very sorry to hear of Jean's passing. Thought and prayers to the family. She was a wonderful blessing to her Mother Mae.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. I remember all the talks we use to have when she worked with me. How I enjoyed them. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
